BECOME A VOLUNTEER

The History Museum of Burke County is a non-profit educational organization dedicated to the preservation and display of Burke County’s memorabilia and artifacts. The interest and abilities of many Burke citizens are required daily to achieve our mission and goals.

Artifact collections, along with their documentation and storage, require constant work - and then dusting and careful cleaning. On-the-job training is provided and your help will be greatly appreciated any day of the week. “Docents” are needed as tour guides and receptionist during special events. Office help at the History Museum on West Meeting Street or at the Morganton Railway Depot on South Green Street is another regular need.

Volunteers serve on the History Museum’s Board of Directors and committees. Your special abilities in finance, publications, fundraising, friend raising, buildings or grounds maintenance will be much appreciated. You choose. Volunteer full-time, part-time or some time. Just get involved and help us build the greatest little county history museum in western North Carolina.

Contact a Director, a museum volunteer or telephone 437-1777.
